EVERYTHING EBONY AMBER

Ebony Amber grew up in Howell, New Jersey with her artistically inclined and creatively supportive family.

Her father, George Haas, is a painter, assemblage artist, and author, who was also the former president of the Sculptors Association of New Jersey. Haas spent countless weekends nurturing his daughter's creative talents, until later delved into the realm of literature, penning two books: The Cydonia Codex: Reflections from Mars and The Martian Codex: More Reflections from Mars. This shift from artistry to authorship undoubtedly served as inspiration for Ebony, who is currently working on a debue novel entitled Delilah 4.

Dale Amber, Ebony’s mother, is also an artist and crafter with a Bachelor of Arts in Art Education. She also studied at Parsons School of Design, the Fashion Institute of Technology, and Three Schools of Art in Toronto, Canada. Because of Dale's masterful sewing background Ebony had the opportunity, from a young age, to create unique, one of a kind garments which in turn encouraged her passion for fashion.

At 8 years of age Ebony's mother enrolled her in sewing classes and by 14 Ebony and Dale attended their first costume contest.

During her teen years, Ebony discovered one of her favorite forms of artistic expression, inspired by her interest in up-cycling. Re-using magazine paper and cardboard, Ebony spent countless hours with scissors, tweezers and mod-podge to create elaborate collages.

While in high school, Ebony found she had a knack for business, eventually putting her skills to the test by competing in the DECA program (Distributive Educational Clubs of America) in Fashion Merchandising. Winning first place in the state of Connecticut, Ebony then knew she wanted to combine her love for art and her aptitude for business, leading her to attend college for Business Science. During her college years she also participated in art classes and acting. It was through these creative endeavors she discovered her interest in art films.

Inspired by directors such as David Lynch and Tim Burton, Ebony quickly organized a group of talented friends to work on a short film about an extra-terrestrial named Bob and his crash course lessons here on Earth. The bizarre and funny film titled Terrestrial Violence went on to win Best Experimental Film at the reputable Litchfield Hills Film Festival.

Upon graduating with a degree in Business Science, Ebony Amber set out to finally combine her passion for art and fashion. With a particular focus on outsider art, she launched her first sole venture, Asa Gleek Designs.

Within a year, Asa Gleek Designs caught the attention of Brazen Betties, a local indie shop, which began stocking AG merchandise. Encouraged by this endorsement, Ebony seized the opportunity to broaden her product range, soon producing greeting cards, hats, ties, and sneakers.

In 2010 Julia Sloan, owner of Brazen Betties, hosted a fashion show featuring her stores designers. In preparation, Ebony took her clothing line to the next level, incorporating hand woven and embellished fabrics.

Due to Ebony’s use of spray paint, her new line was titled: Graffiti Fashion.

The Graffiti Fashion show was a success, garnering Ebony the attention of the RAW Organization, an independent arts group that produces a national competition each year, showcasing emerging artists of various media. RAW asked Ebony to participate in their 2012 show and because of this opportunity, Ebony created new, one of a kind garments, that expanded on her Graffiti Fashion concept.

Designing 6 unique looks, Ebony went on to win Connecticut Fashion Designer of the Year and was nominated for National Fashion Designer of the Year.

Two years after the RAW event, on May 31st 2014, Ebony produced her very own fashion show titled Eternalism, raising $3000 for Make-A-Wish Connecticut. Designing 11 unique looks, Ebony incorporated her ‘graffiti’ fabric style, while also going back to one of her original passions of up-cycling, using only second hand leather and fur.

“The Eternalism concept was about exploring the cycles of life, taking inspiration from primitive tribal cultures while also incorporating a modern spin.”

As she worked on the designs for this show, Ebony became more inspired by costume design, which was where her roots originated. Because of this transition in style and concept, Ebony decided to rename her company Ebony Amber, focusing on one of a kind elaborate pieces.

Serendipitously, following Ebony Amber's Eternalism fashion show, she crossed paths with Tyler Green, an SFX makeup artist, while at a local convention. From then on, the two talents embarked on a collaborative journey, crafting unique characters as a team. Their adventures took them up and down the East Coast, where they captivated audiences with dynamic presentations on costume and makeup design.

In 2016 Ebony and Tyler expanded their partnership creating the jewelry line Ebony Amber’s Chunk. Each design was made from scratch through a process of sculpting, molding, and finally casting.

Ebony Amber’s Chunk puts emphasis on bold shapes, luxurious materials, and avant-garde aesthetics, resulting in statement pieces that exude confidence and individuality.

As the world came to a standstill in 2020 with the rise of COVID-19, Ebony Amber pressed forward, refusing to let uncertainty silence her creativity. Amidst being confined indoors with her three children and two dogs, she em-barked on a delightful project with her family: producing a whimsical children’s book featuring their beloved pugs, French Fry and Bendy Boy.

French Fry and Bendy Boy's PUG-TACULAR Christmas is a heartwarming holiday tail that follows the adventures of two lovable pugs as they em-bark on a festive journey filled with friendship, fun, and furry antics. Set against the backdrop of magical Christmas scenes, the story captures the joy and excitement of the holidays through the pug-eyes of these adorable canine brothers.

In 2024, Ebony Amber debuted Creators Corner, a YouTube series dedicated to showcasing talented artists in Michigan. Partnering with Charlevoix Circle of Arts, Ebony conducts engaging interviews with artists of various backgrounds, exploring their personal experiences with artistic expression.

Each interview is recorded and edited by Ebony’s middle son, Zane Parish, who was 14 when the series began, adding a youthful touch to the production process.

Ebony's upbringing, rich with artistic encouragement from her parents, inspired her to nurture the very same creativity in her own children. Thus, when her creative partner in crime, Tyler Green, SFX makeup artist, approached her middle child, Zane, to craft a children's story inspired by one of Green's creature designs, Ebony wholeheartedly embraced the opportunity, eventually assuming the role of creative director for the project.

The children’s book titled: Toeby’s BIG Adventure is set to release in the fall of 2025

Presently, Ebony Amber is immersed in writing her first novel, Delilah 4.
