Having always enjoyed the art of writing, Ebony Amber discovered it to be an invaluable tool for crafting rich backstories for the characters she brings to life. This practice not only fuels her passion for storytelling but also serves as a wellspring of inspiration, sparking some of the most intriguing and unique elements in her costume designs.

Jareth the Goblin King, famously portrayed by David Bowie in Labyrinth, has long been one of Ebony Amber’s favorite characters. The enchanting, dreamlike world created by Jim Henson deeply inspired her love for fantasy, but it was the iconic ballroom scene that truly captured her imagination. In that surreal moment—set inside a floating bubble where Jareth and Sarah dance at a hauntingly opulent masquerade—Ebony found the spark that inspired her to bring this challenging costume to life.

Studying Brian Froud’s stunning costume designs, Ebony set out to recreate Jareth’s ballroom ensemble. Every shimmering bead and intricate detail on the Goblin King's jacket was meticulously hand-stitched, a testament to her dedication and craftsmanship. The result is a cosplay that brings the magic of the film to life with striking accuracy.

And of course—true to the character—no Jareth cosplay would be complete without the infamous bulge, a cheeky nod to one of the film's most talked-about quirks that fans will instantly recognize.

Oz is a character inspired by the beloved film The Wizard of Oz. Captivated by the magic and meaning of the story, Ebony set out to create a costume that would pay homage to every aspect of the iconic tale—while adding an imaginative twist.

In Ebony’s vision, the story begins at a turning point: the departure of the Wizard, also known as Oscar Diggs, from the Emerald City, as he escorts Dorothy Gale back to her home in Kansas.

Unbeknownst to Oscar, his wife Clara Diggs was pregnant with their first child. Fearing he may abandon his mission to help Dorothy if he knew, Clara kept the pregnancy a secret. Months later, she gave birth to a beautiful baby girl, alone but proud, and named her Dorothy—a name that had, by then, become a popular choice.

Raised on tales of her father’s legendary adventures, Dorothy grew up with a deep desire to honor the legacy of Oscar, the Great and Powerful Oz. When she became a mother, she passed that legacy forward—naming her daughter Oz in tribute to the grandfather she never knew.

Young Oz grew up immersed in enchanting stories—of ruby slippers, yellow brick roads, and the courage of unlikely heroes—but it was the legend of her grandfather, the original Wizard, that sparked her imagination the most.

Through Ebony’s creative storytelling and detailed costume work, the legacy of The Wizard of Oz continues, inviting people to dream beyond the original tale, keeping the magic of the Emerald City alive.

Bram Stoker’s Dracula holds a special place in Ebony Amber’s heart as one of her all-time favorite films. The haunting romance, gothic atmosphere, and—above all—the breathtaking costumes designed by Eiko Ishioka left a lasting impression. But of all the stunning looks, it was the iconic red Mina dress, worn by Winona Ryder, that captivated her most.

Recreating the Mina dress became one of Ebony's most ambitious projects to date. Over 140 beaded origami petals were meticulously crafted by hand, each one a tribute to Ishioka’s visionary design. As Ebony poured her heart into every stitch, she pushed the limits of her skill, reaching new heights of craftsmanship.

True to her need to push boundaries, Ebony couldn’t resist putting her own spin on the character. Teaming up with Tyler Green, she reimagined Mina as a fierce vampire queen, transforming the classic figure through a dark, fantastical lens.
